RETREAT & TRAINING CENTRE ready by end of the year

SBEU members can look forward to our very own beach RESORT once construction is completed by 31 December 2005.

BEACH FRONT, SIAR BEACH, LUNDU

SBEU first purchased the beach front land at Siar Beach, Lundu with perpetually lease in 2001 for $350,000. Current estimated market value is at least $750,000.

The long delayed Batang Kanyan Bridge is finally slated for completion by 3rd quarter 2005. The bridge, together with the 3rd Mile underpass/flyover and upgrading of Jalan Batu Kawa into a dual carriageway will reduce travelling time to just an hour from Kuching.

The Retreat consists of a 2-½-storey block with 2 wings with a built up area of 19,000 sq feet. It will be comfortable and practical with adequate facilities and amenities. Total Cost is 2 million ringgit.

ACCOMMODATION

The Retreat will be able to accommodate up to 100 people with 9 fully air-condition bedrooms, 2 family suites & 5 hostels rooms on 2 ½ levels.

The generously sized bedroom comes complete with attached bathroom with enclosed showers and hot water. It can accommodate 2 to 4 pax per room. There will be balconies to all bedrooms.

The 5 hostel type rooms can accommodate up 10 pax per hostel with double-bunk beds to cater for budget and school groups. There will be ample shower and toilet facilities in the 2 common bathrooms.

The more adventurous may like to pitch tents in the Camping area and enjoy a BBQ at the BBQ deck, just next to the beachfront. In addition there will be pergolas and Kiosks doted around the compound and beachfront for outdoor/beach games facilities. There will also be a children's playground.

FOOD

The Cafeteria can seat up to 60 pax with additional space along the two wide (2.4m) corridors.

THINGS TO DO

The Mas Gading National Park, home to the Rafflasia, the largest
flower in the world is only 10 minutes drive or 30 minutes walk away. Hiking trials, crystal clear waterfalls and mountain streams abound. Beach activities, swimming, snorkelling, or on a quiet note, just relax and unwind.

TRAINING & SEMINARS

To cater for training and conference, the design also incorporate a meeting room that can accommodate 24 pax in board room style and a bigger seminar room that can cater up to 60 in theatre style. The two rooms can open up to accommodate 100 pax.

Once completed, the Retreat & Training Centre is the perfect place for members and their families to escape from the stress of banking work and enjoy a weekend getaway and picnic. The place is also perfect for group outings, outdoor training and team building activities just by the sandy beach and the clear water of the South China Sea.
