KUCHING: CMS Cement Sdn Bhd rejects any accusation of wrongdoing, suppression of its employees’ freedom of association or wrongful dismissal as alleged by Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC).
In a statement to respond to reports surrounding alleged anti-union formation activities in the company, CMS Cement also denied claims that the company’s senior managers had discouraged employees from casting votes to establish an in-house union.
“The process of balloting was conducted and supervised by the authorities in a free and transparent manner in accordance with the law and we reject any accusation of wrongdoing, suppression of our employees’ freedom of association or wrongful dismissal.
“CMS Cement will not tolerate gross misconduct such as threatening behaviour or aggressive insubordination, and such unprofessional acts will be met with firm disciplinary action, in full accordance with the nation’s labour laws,” it said.
CMS Cement also said it welcomed engagement with the appropriate authorities to review the allegations, and would cooperate fully and transparently, confident in the knowledge that the outcome would attest to its full compliance and high professional standards.
