2003-2005COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT

OFFICIAL SIGNING - 27 JULY 2004

Arrears to be paid by October

An overwhelming 96% of members have endorsed the draft agreement negotiated by SCBA and SBEU

 

Accordingly the official signing of the 8th Collective Agreement between SCBA and SBEU will be held on 27 July 2004 in Kuching.

 

The Agreement is for the period 1 January 2003 to 31 December 2005.  It will cover all 2500 clerical and non-clerical employees in all Commercial Banks and Mayban Finance & Public Finance in Sarawak.

 

In additional EON Finance, BCF, Bank Muamalat, RHB Delta Finance & Affin ACF, Southern Finance is expected to implement similar terms and conditions in due course.  We are still negotiating with AmFinance to extend the CA to their employees.

 

Amongst the improvements are:

 

Salary Revision

 

9% Salary increase.  The increase will take effect from 1 January 2003 meaning members will get more than 20 months arrears (including Bonus).  We note that the Consumer Price Index for the relevant period is only 4.5%.

 

SBEU members will get an extra of 6.5 Million Ringgit a year in salary increases alone.

 

On average, members will get a salary increase of about $170 per month.  Arrears on salary will average $3500 per member.  Total payout is more than 8 million ringgit.

 


 

 

OTHER IMPROVEMENTS/INCREASE

  • Mileage allowance - 5ct per km

  • Subsistence allowance - $5

  • Shift allowances - $10

  • Family medical limit - by $100 to $1100

  • Insurance by $10,000 to RM110,000

  • Miscarriage to be covered

  • Laundry Allowance - by $5.00 to $50 pm

  • Dental, Spectacles claims

It was also agreed that the Bank & the Union adopt a memorandum on a Code of Conduct for the Prevention of Sexual Harassment at the workplace.

 

OVERTIME/MEAL ALLOWANCE

 

As part of the package for employees earning more than $1500 per month, overtime shall be converted to meal allowance as follow:

 

Normal Days

Less than 2 hours $10

2 hours or more $20

3 hours or more $30

4 hours or more $40

 

Rest Days

Up to 4 hrs - $45

4 to 7 hrs - $75

More than 7 hrs - $90
