PRESIDENTIAL ADDRESS
Good Morning Delegates, Exco members and
officials of SBEU
Welcome to our 17th TDC, the first time
ever held in this beautiful town, Bintulu. I am indeed very
pleased to be with all of you and see our presence in this meaningful
event, that also remind us that SBEU is now 454 years old. Aside
from this TDC, several exciting events have been lined up to mark SBEU
45th Anniversary. We had this morning planted trees to symbolize
this historic event. I would like to take this opportunity to
tanks the hosting branch for their hardwork, time and commitment to
ensure that we have a successful and memorable event and a pleasant stay
in in Bintulu.
I hop all the delegates, EXCO and
officials had gained knowledge from the Mindset Transformation program
which was organised prior to the TDC. SBEU is at the height of the
process to equip each and everyone of us to enhance our knowledge and
confidence in facing the new challenges in the banking industry.
I acknowledge the handworks that all the
EXCOs, officials and staff of SBEU have performed in all the branhes.
Without everyone of you, SBEU would not be able to become a respectable
union like it is now. Every one of us has a challenging task in
SBEU, juggling with our work in the bank and acting as a trade union
leader at the same time, we must not forget our supportive family.
A fair work life balance should be in place. To those officials
who are leaving SBEU due to retirement and promotion. deep from the
bottom of my heart, i wish you success in your future Endeavour.
Working with you guys was such an exciting and meaningful time that i
will treasure for the rest of my life.
Our collective agreement is due to expire
at the end of this year. We foresee that we are going to face
another challenging year ahead. We went through a turbulent during
the last CA and we will sure that the banks will not treat us the way
they wanted too anymore. I urged the new line up of both EXCO
members and branch officials to remain committed in striving for better
terms in the coming CA.
Despite the challenges and frustration
that we are going through, we must remain steadfast and committed to the
spirit of SBEU. We must build on our achievements and continue to
set high standards for SBEU members and officials. We must not and we
will not let down our very supportive members. Through them we
survive.
While we gear ourselves to meet the
challenges of the future, we must not forget our past and the sacrifices
made by previous leaders of SBEU. I believe we are matured and
professional union in dealing with the demanding challenges ahead.
This is the tasks that with hard work,
vision, dedication and professionalism and bravery of SBEU officials,
plus the solidarity support of all our members, SBEU will succeed in
achieving our goal. With this notes, i once again urged all
delegates to observe and participate actively in this TDC, Wishing you
all a fruitful conference.
Thank you
HADIAH LEEN
